Hi -
Is there such a thing? I only use my neck and my bridge hum in my ibanez rg550 and want to re-wire it such that i can only access these two combinations (call me a minimalist)

thanks

jeff

A SPDT toggle switch is one of the most popular switches there is. GuitarElectronics.com sells. As do many places. Even Radio Shack.

Edit: Here's a good one from RS: Radio Shack SPDT switch

Thanks ArtieToo.
Is that a mini switch? Would the hole (where the tone knob used to be) i have in my pickguard be too big for it?

thanks again

No. I bought one just to check it out. (Not for you - a long time ago.) :)

Its a full size handle and bushing. The threaded part is 7/16"

Hi -
So it's not a mini but the hole i have in my pickguard is probably too small then and won't work then?

Yeah, the bushing on this is fairly large. Your only alternative is to go with a mini. Check here also:

Jameco

They have a huge selection of electronic parts and switches. If you aren't in a hurry, send for their free catalog. Its pretty extensive - and free.

Re: 2-way switch: lever or toggle?

I sort of did this with my G&L bass... I never use the bridge pickup solo, and it's difficult to switch to the middle postion 'on the fly,' especially with a mini-toggle. I just had the switch replaced to a 2 postion, neck and neck+bridge.

Hi Golden Boy -
So were you still using a 3-way switch or used a mini toggle?
What 2-position switch did you use?

thanks

Re: 2-way switch: lever or toggle?

The bass came with a 3 position mini-toggle. I just replaced it with a cosmetically identical 2 postion switch wired to the way I wanted it.

Guess which one's the pickup selector...

Re: 2-way switch: lever or toggle?

Just looking at the guitar in question, since you have a strat style switch, do you use both knobs? You can just remove one of the knobs and get a "LEV-R® SWITCH SERIES 12000" Switchcraft Switch. Or drill a hole for one, and remove the slide switch.

In my Tele, I just drilled a hole to replace the slide switch with a toggle. It looks like crap though.

Don't forget Switchcraft LEV-R® SWITCH SERIES 12000. Very important.

Check out the Switchcraft site!
