I have the 2003 Fender Frontline magazine and that flame color was not something that Fender did. I would say that it has been repainted by someone else.

No i thought that also but ive seen 4 since then that look the exact same and i finally got ahold of a shop owner that had one for sale but all he knew is that it was a factory flame job and it was a mexican strat..

How much did you pay for it?
Does it play and sound good?

Re: 2003 Fender Strat with factory flames

I talked the guy down to 300 for it..and he agreed because no one knew anything about it.. and yea it sounds awesome...and the flames look killer in person

sounds like a good price regardless...?

Re: 2003 Fender Strat with factory flames

Fender does these Factory Special Runs (FSRs), or limited editions of anywhere from <100 on up, quite frequently. They are often offered primarily to dealers within a specific distribution region (e.g., mid-Atlantic), so only the dealers in that region are likely to get them in stock. Some of these FSRs are the next best thing to CS guitars at factory floor prices. I bought an FSR American Custom Tele a year or so ago that combines a blackguard '52 RI body in butterscotch blonde with Nocaster pickups, a vintage finished American Series neck, and modern American Series hardware in a G&G tolex case. There were less than 100 made, and it is one of the best Teles I've ever seen.

BTW, that looks like a cool (er, hot) Strat.

It looks great man, i wouldnt care how much it was worth if i had it, i'd just be glad to have such a kick ass guitar, if i were you ;).

Re: 2003 Fender Strat with factory flames

It's awesome looking man. It probably has stock fender pick ups. But your at the right web site to do some upgrading.

Re: 2003 Fender Strat with factory flames

Looks like a MIM Standard with flame finish. That'd explain the low price.

Re: 2003 Fender Strat with factory flames

I don't know much about it so i can't be of too much help but i do know it was actually a real MIM fender made in limited production, i don't remember how many but i almost bought one when i saw them on the elderly guitars website a while back. I think they sold for around the same price as a regular standard fat strat $350 or so. I regret not getting one now after seeing yours....very cool!!

hey here are some better pictures that i found...and also there is one of the these guitars on ebay if anyone wants to look into gettin one of there own...everything about my guitar is the same as the pics except i have black pickup covers which i think look better..

Re: 2003 Fender Strat with factory flames

I like it alot!! Good score!! I am suprised to see that it has flames on the back of it also. That has to be one of the more attractive strats I have seen from the factory.
