This was a Les Paul DC Faded in yellow. I decided to refinish it in heritage cherry high gloss Lacquer. I sanded to 2000 grit and hand buffeded it, alot of work. I'm pretty darn proud of the result!! This is maybe my 4th refinish and I think i got it!
However, i recently happened on an acoustic I just had to have, and four electrics is too much. Sound wise, this is the heaviest of three of these i've owned. Denser and heavier body. Really gets the Green Day punch in the low end. Very low action.
Everyone knows these are great guitars except for the crappy finish. Here's your chance to get something that is just not made anymore.
The only niggles are two small holes where someone had tried to put the strap peg in backand an area where there was a small surface crack at the nut. It was repaired and the finish is perfectly smooth on top. There is a little discoloration where the stain did not take as well, otherwise you feel nothing. It is rock solid.
The guitar also has a new Tusq nut at the perfect height. I had shaved the nut a bit too low and decided too fill the slot with some glue/baking soda. It is great but if you prefer, you could get a new nut and just file away the filler i did, it will be like new.
I'm looking for $750. considering the month of hard work i put in. A refin like this would cost $300/$400...
Anyway, she's a great one, plays and sounds beautifull and now looks it too! Mail for more photos. I tried to capture the shine with a lamp and have other shots.
