I bought this for $90 USD for my girlfriend as she hasn't been having great success on guitar and loves the sound of Mandolins.
There's no brand on the headstock or sound hole label so I have no idea who made it. It's got a solid spruce top, maple back and sides, mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard with plastic inlays. The nut width is 1-1/2" and the string spacing is 1-1/8". The seller believes it was made in the '60s. He said he a luthier assess it and that was the Luthier's opinion.
You can see from the "Tan line" that the bridge was way too far back for ages. When I got it home it became clear quickly the intonation was out by a half-tone. I loosened the strings and set the bridge equidistance from the 12th fret as the nut is (6-13/16") and that fixed the intonation.
It's sounds really nice and is pretty loud too. It would be cool to find out more about it but the main thing is the lady loves it and is playing it.
