2007 Custom Shop non-reverse Firebird. One piece mahogany long tenon neck and one piece body, mini buckers, mini Grovers, goldhardware and elaborate wiring. Have not weighed her yet but I am guessing around 8lbs. The neck is rounder then my Les Paul, fills the hand nicely but definitely is not a baseball bat. These are considered a Strat on steroids
I dwelled on the non-reverse thing for awhile but I dig it, I realize it's not the shape for everyone but let me tell you this, any cosmetic predjudices disappear instantly when you play this. Low action as this is a Pleked neck. I am considering putting one of my gold TP-6's on this. The ABR-1 is the old wire type
Tonal variances abound with this and the pots are very sensitive to any changes in position. You can tame the mini buckers down to a acoustic clean, roll in slightly and that Johnny Winter grit starts to awaken. I realize my 6505 is not the best amp to take advantage of the true tone of this guitar but in the low gain channel and the gain rolled back to between 1 and 2, this thing sounds sweet. This rips like any Les Paul when you put the power to it
There is a lot to be said for the versatility of 3 pup equipped guitars and these minibuckers are as hot sounding as any Super Distortion pup, maybe even hotter
Anyway, I am digging this but really want a reverse vintage burst neckthru Firebird or maybe a sunburst Explorer so this is available for trade/sale. Will consider other stuff and partial trades always welcome. Value set for this is about $2k. No import stuff please
This is pretty much a case queen regarding condition, call it a 9.8 out of 10
