Re: 2007 Vintage HIWATT Ampfest/Convention

Will there be a special meeting room for the tinnitus support group?

Looks like fun. Wish I could get there.

Re: 2007 Vintage HIWATT Ampfest/Convention

You would think so! Especially considering this will be the largest gathering of 200 watt HIWATTs in one place since 1980! Plenty of DR103's and DR504's too!

Last year Daphne and Glynn Reeves (widow and eldest son of David Reeves, legendary HIWATT founder) came and surprised us. It is very cool!

 If WHoFan come down from the GWN, I'll come up from TX.

I wish I still had my old DR103 - even thought I don't know what I'd use it for. I traded it for a Marshall in about 1980. I think I saw it on eBay a few years ago, but the seller couldn't send me any pics to confirm it.

thats pretty tempting for sure! I'll keep it in mind... right now between Dentists bills for me and Vet Bills for my hurt lab, i'll be broke for a bit...

But hell ya a Hiwatt Convention would be cool!!!!

Pfffft! Look at the "For more information" web address. I'll bet he could fix your teeth for you, and give you the special WhoFan discount.

Re: 2007 Vintage HIWATT Ampfest/Convention

columbus isnt too far from cincinnati, is it?

Re: 2007 Vintage HIWATT Ampfest/Convention

I can do it for $850.00!

That's, "Eight-fiddy!".

So, Clayton... I've heard of "Blues Lawyers". Are you a "Mod Dentist", or does your interest in Hiwatts stem more from Gilmore than Townsend?

More Gilmour than Townshend. But I do love the WHO.

"just a little pin prick"

Nowadays music is just my hobby.

I went over to the UK twice over the last few years to Who Fan Conventions put on by a web site.. like a trekie convention for Who Fans... Some guys i know in an American Who Tribute act doing a UK tour called The Wholigans are sponcered by Music Ground/Hiwatt UK... i got up close and personal with the gilmour and Townshend signature model Hiwatts... Man that PT model is nice!

$850 American for an eye touth cap... Not bad.. but the travel and the exchange rate... ha ha ha....

Re: 2007 Vintage HIWATT Ampfest/Convention

Unfortunately Music Ground's amps don't do the HIWATT name justice. Neither Pete nor David use their amps. They both still use real HIWATTs.

regarding the tooth, I can take it out for about $100 and you could look more like Eddie Van Halen:headbang:

Right on, EVH likeness..... man i'll get roughed up by the cops everywhere i go as i will always look like i'm up to something... and just drinking a cup of coffee on the sidewalk people will give me spare change!!! I'll make up for the $100 easy!

Oh ya of course Pete and David used real Hiwatts... but the Music Ground PT head does the Live At leeds tone extremely well... with a late 60's SG Special plugged into it i had the experience of hearing that tone for a few nights on The Wholigans tribute act tours, both in 2003 and 2006... it is a nice amp for Who Fans.. but the price is way too crazy! And on the first tour i saw they went thru 3 heads in the first week... a little cheap ass resistor kept blowing, which they have since addressed and fixed.... On last years tour they had a Hiwatt Bass amp going south on them.. but the PT lasted just fine this time..

So yes the music ground stuff appears to have some issues and are extremely expensive for a Canadian... Of Course the Reeve's PT head is an option but i hear they are made by Music Ground as well.... But they do the Who tone....

Re: 2007 Vintage HIWATT Ampfest/Convention

Since mid summer 2005 The REEVES amps have been all built in Cincinatti OH.

They are put together with more care and held to higher standards than the MG amps.

I own a Reeves custom lead, which is basically a '68 plexi with power scaling and built to Mil-spec standards. What a great amp! I won't touch a Music Ground amp with a ten foot pole. They are overpriced and out of principle.

Disgusting owner and business practices.

I really should not talk about MG:firedevil

The Vintage HIWATT Convention is what this thread is all about!

Re: 2007 Vintage HIWATT Ampfest/Convention

Yes, they are right there in Cincy. Great guys too!

They are probably the best kept secret in boutique amps.
