2011 antiquity jazz reviews

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has heard the new for 2011 antiquity jazz humbuckers. Id really like a modern sounding hum for my tele and am trying to narrow down the search. Mostly interested in how it sounds clean.

It's interesting to see somebody who wants a "MODERN" sounding p'up and the one he's curious about is an "Antiquity".

Is it me, or I'm looking at an oxymoron here...?

Well, the Jazz does sound pretty articulate and some say a little sterile, so it's not too far off to mention the Jazz when looking for a modern sound.

I think the idea of an "Antiquity Jazz" pickup (given that the Jazz hasn't been out since the 60's or something) is the bigger oxymoron here.... or maybe just good marketing.

I think if you can swing the price, you'll have yourself a great sounding tele, if you want something as hot and middy as the JB in the bridge. The regular Jazz set might be more pleasing to you if you want both your pickups to sound calibrated and similar.

I'll never understand why the Jazz set isn't more popular. It's got ultimate definition and clarity, and isn't too bright. If you're a picker, you want that glassy top end. They sound great from crystal clean to highgain.

As far as I can see, the Antiquity JB/Jazz is similar to a regular single conductor set, only with Dun-Aged magnets. The aging/relicing process accounts for the price.

I've "warmed up" to the jazz over the past couple of years because I realize it cures what I hate about the 59neck- boomy bass, and the impression of scooped mids- it's a more "flat" sounding (EQ wise) pickup that sounds better under gain for chording work, and if you can load it up enough does a very good John Sykes/Gary Moore type neck tone. I still prefer a PGn, but if going for the A5 thing, I have come to terms with it.

It will show off your crappy technique for sure.

i like the jazz. its very balanced and dare i say "transparent". Great pickup.

If you mag swap the Jazz, you'll find an unusual palette of colors... it takes very well A4, UOA5 and A2 in the neck and A8, UOA5 and A2 in the bridge. Or A4 using the Jazz bridge in the neck position.

If you mag swap the Jazz, you'll find an unusual palette of colors... it takes very well A4, UOA5 and A2 in the neck and A8, UOA5 and A2 in the bridge. Or A4 using the Jazz bridge in the neck position.
