Well my wife cut me off, but she was in a poker tournement today, and won big time. all luck, I hate gambleing, this town wouldnt be hear if everyone wins. She wants to get me another guitar. Im looking only at the 2012 American Standard Strat HSS, or the EVH Wolfgang Special HT. I have played both and really like both. What do you guys think?? as far as holding value, and reliability

They're both made by Fender.
You can always get a Strat. But Wolfgangs may not be around forever. Eddie is notoriously fickle. He may decide tomorrow that Ibanez or Gibson or Rickenbacker* is the company that *really* understands him.

id get a musicman axis over an evh wolfgang. Two reasons, one is that itll hold resale and two is that its made in the USA. Also, its the original design and it has become a classic in its own right.

Just looking at the Wolfie.

It has a locking nut, for... tuning stability? So apparently a slide over the nut would be too much to risk. But then it has a TOM bridge with saddles, over which it's apparently fine for the strings to slide back and forth. What?

Ive been trippen on that to. If it was Eddie vision it must work. (Empty pockets) why would it be better to get a used one? My buddy said he would concider selling his.

How come you compare a $1000 guitar with a $3000 guitar.

If I had $3000 I wouldn't go waste 1/3rd of it on a run of the mill Strat.
