2012 Trad Pro for 2008 Standard Faded...interesting situation.

I have a 2012 Traditional Pro now...just traded for it and it is a very sweet player. I love just about everything about it (not sure about the BB3 yet), but...I've been offered a Cherry SB 2008 Standard Faded because someone saw in a post of mine that I wasn't crazy about the finish (Vintage Sunburst...it's growing on me).
I'm just curious if you would consider the trade assuming that you felt the two were equal players. Electronics and tuners are different I know, but...these are changeable things. I haven't played a Standard from '08, so I'm not too knowledgeable, but from I've read, they are pretty light. The Trad Pro is pretty heavy, but that doesn't bother me. I am not inclined to trade because this particular guitar was hand-picked by someone who's eye and guitar-IQ I trust. He played a lot of LP's over a long period before picking this one. I just got lucky that he wanted something that I had badly enough. Just looking for opinions...it's a fun "problem" to have, so...if you're in the mood to share your thoughts, that'd be cool.

Normally I'd say trade it as the faded standards are (1) just cool and (2) are one of the rare recent models that's actually held its value and in many cases gone way up in value, whereas the market is saturated with TradPros right now and they are all over for good deals. That said, the faded standards were very inconsistent with the tops with some getting killer R9 quality flame and others looking like dogsh1t. Also, the tobacco and lemon are far more popular colors than the cherry. So if this is a clownburst with a dogsh1t top, it might not be worth it unless it speaks to you. But if its got a nice color and good flame, you're in business.

That's a tough one. I had a Trad Pro, same finish. The only things I didn't like were the pickups and the nut. I sold it and I've regretted that decision nearly every day since. Keep in mind, the Trad Pro has coil splitting. I'm not sure if the standard does, but it's a nice thing to have.

The smooth satin finish on the back was a nice touch as well. I wish all guitars had that.

Wise words...I am taking it all in.
I haven't bonded with this one yet and my ears are always open, so...
If I can check it out without putting this dude out...I probably will.
I have a bucket of PUPs that I may throw in this one if I can't dial in the 57/BB3 set.
Jury is still out on the nut...have to play it some more.

I own a Standard Faded, and I've played a few Traditional Pros, and IME the playability and general quality are quite similar. If you really like the top and finish on his, it could turn out to be a good trade for both of you. Also, if it's stock it won't have the coil splitting, but the BB Pros are a pretty good set.
