22 fret neck on a 21 fret guitar?

Is it possible to put an American 22 fret neck on a Mexican tele that origionally came with 21?
Also, apart from the extra fret, is it worth changing the neck?

Should be fine.

In general I like American necks more, but it's sometimes more to do with your own spec. preference rather than anything quality-wise

Providing there is no difference in the screw hole location, and the overhang of the 22nd fret fits over the pickguard, then it should work just fine.

Has been done many times, just make sure there is clearance and you will be good to go

I put a 22 fret Blacktop neck on a MIM Standard body with no issues.

Out of curiosity, when has anyone experienced the pickguard getting in the way? Maybe on a non-standard body?
