I want to put an Invader in my strat, and I was wondering if I should use 250k or 500k pots. I'm trying to go for a pop-punk sound. (I use a Peavey Classic 30 combo amp).
Links above are for Tom delonge strat (which probably has sound you're going for)...it uses a Duncan Invader, no tone, volume only circuit....as it shows, they used a 500k volume pot, but also a capacitor and resistor,.......first link is wiring diagram, second is part list showng values...
Good Luck!
now i have a 500k for my invader in my strat and i find it way too bright! it sounds sooo glassy and twangy like a single coil....and it makes the lows sound too bright aswell not as fat as they shoud be! id say go for a 250k, thats what im going to do! but fender hs theres set up with a 500k and a ressistor ans a .22 cap on the pot....sooo its just w/e
too bright really?
start off with a 500k and go from there, if its too bright for you try a 250k, if its not bright enough try a 1meg, i think you'll be happy with a 500k though,
I think as minmal as possible. If tone and volume then maybe a NO LOAD tone pot and 500k. Problem with 1 meg is the taper and effect on tone when turned down can be a nuisance (I never touched it when I had a Jag for this reason).
