I am possibly considering changing the tone pots in my LP with 250K pots because I like the gradual roll off 250K pots offer. I am still planning to keep the volume pots 500k. I am wondering if all 4 pots are on 10 if there would be any tonal dirrerence VS having all 4 pots 500K? Also has anyone ever used a 1meg volume and a 250K tone?

could the difference be audio taper vs linear taper or do you really prefer the taper on 250k?
with all 4 pots on 10 there will be a difference, not a huge difference but noticably less high end.

changing the tone control has less of an effect than changing the volume but still has an effect

I never really thought of putting 250K pots in a LP, but it's an interesting idea, especially if it's a bright guitar. I'm one of those guys that doesn't mess too much with caps across the volume, since I use the rolloff to warm up the sound. Everytime I've tried caps, I've yanked them off for some reason. Sounds like sacriledge on this site.

I use 50's style wiring on my LP with a 250k tone pot for the briege pickup to lose a little high end. My LP is naturally bright unplugged (brighter than my Sheraton).
