I am getting ready to put a BG-1400 bridge and a STR-3 Quarter Pound neck p/u in my Telecaster. I was wondering what would be the best pots to put in it- 250k or 500k? It's an ash body, maple neck and f/b ''partscaster'' that I am putting together, so I dont have any stock 250k's layin around to take a test drive with. I'm shooting for a warm and balanced tone- not ear piercing high nor muddy low. I play with overdrive most of the time so the ol' country tele twang isnt real important but versatility is always welcome! I was leaning towards the 500k's since the BG is a humbucker and that some people find the STR-3's to be too dark and muddy. What do you guys think? Also, what brand of good, high quality pots would you recommend? Thanks for your input!!

It was designed with 250k's in mind and that's what I used with it.

I have a pre-owned Custom Shop Tele Lead Stack with specs very similar to the BG-1400. It sounded right with the stock CTS A250k pot and no treble bypassing network.
