2x TC Electronic cheap pedals..

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
. My main modelers are mostly out of action atm (Mooer GE300 was dropped and though it still works fine I'm not using it much and I lost the adaptor for my Hotone Ampero) I needed something for delay and reverb for solo's..so I picked up two cheaper TC Electronic pedals a "Skysurfer" reverb & "The Prophet" delay. They both sound great and do the job just fine w/o breaking the bank...

Here's my first go with the Skysurfer. Dialed it in a bit too strong (has a pretty big range to it) but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon...

I guess these are budget versions of the Flashback/Hall of Fame pedals, but they're high quality pedals in their own right and built like tanks and this one at leat (Skysurfer) lacks nothing for tone..

Dialed it back a bit for this one..

My Prophet pedal has'nt come in yet ...but I'm pretty sure these two will sound awesome together for solo's.. :bigthumb:

Both the Bucket bridge and the Echobrain analog delay were out of stock..and I wanted something cheap so I went with The Prophet. I hardly use any delay at all for my solo's , usually just enough to sweeten things up a little..so I expect The prophet to work for that...lets see..

I haven't had any of the cheapie TC pedals that are digital, but I have absolutely loved anything I've ever gotten from TC with maybe the exception of one or two (Iron Curtain and Tube Pilot).

Standouts for me have been the Zeus, the Mocambo (I actually like it better than my actual Ibanez 808), the Eyemaster, and the 3rd Dimension. Try those if you have the chance.

Of course, the more mid-priced TC pedals are also fantastic. The Polytune is great, same as the Sentry and the Spark.

Love TC, TBH.

I have the TC Twin Track/quad tracking pedal (forget what it's called) Nice/useable but a bit phasey and cuts the bottom end and the Mojo Mojo which I think is great. Probably have another of theirs as well, but I forget which :laugh2:

In this case I was just looking for something cheap/reliable that sound good enough for my (pretty limited :p) needs and I think the one's I got fit the bill :bigthumb:

One thing I will say is that they have absolutely awesome build quality for how cheap they are..big heavy fuckers ....and the reverb at least (the delay was bought online and still has'nt got here) sounds really nice...

Do you run two amps with that one? I think that works best if you run it into two separate amps and space them out a bit. Otherwise, yeah, I'd imagine it would be phase cancellation galore.

I love them, personally. They do have a tendency to tarnish a bit if they're in a very humid environment since the sides are unfinished. But i love their big bulky design, and the actual design printed on the pedals is usualy better-looking than the stuff they use on those Mosky, Mooer, Donner, etc. pedals. Like they actually hired a designer to make them look good, LOL.

Yeah it sounds way better running two amps. The phasiness pretty much disappears. I've done a few gigs like that. Usually with both my Laboga 30W heads. But in the end it's not worth the effort. Pretty sure hardly anyone notices or cares lol...

Yeah, I was kinda taken aback by how big and chunky/heavy they were.. don't expect that in this price range. I do wish they could work with a battery though. I'm a guy who will mostly put a pedal or two in front of the amp, no huge pedal-boards or anything ...so batteries make life easier.

Yeah , some of the Chiinese pedals have hilariously bad graphics and fonts. Most do sound ok for the (shockingly low) price though...some even sound really great :bigthumb:

Yeah, those TC innards are literally Behringer innards.. but the Behringer pedals were never bad-sounding or electronically unreliable, just really cheap plastic and with horrible buffers for the bypass. I think that TC Tore guy did a really good job thinking "how can we improve them without making them cost a lot more". And they did. I bet the cases are really cheap to produce, especially in the quantity they make, but they feel really solid. They made them true bypass which I'm sure is pretty cheap to implement without having the negavite effect of a cheap poorly designed buffer. They're also clearly inspired-by, but not 1:1 direct clones either. And they also hired a decent designer to make them look like a finished product rather than some newbie with Illustrator.

Really well thought-through line of pedals, IMO. Not ground-breaking boutique or innovative designs, but VERY competitive price to sound quality ratio.

Their Klon clone also came with the unicorn fart Germanium diodes too. I personally like my TC Zeus better than my Archer. And I also really like the TC Mocambo better than my TS808 90% of the time.

My only TC experience is with the original flashback and hof2. They imo are just amazing for their price, and having the option of a super-low impedance buffered or standard true-bypass is a big bonus that bigger brands like Boss should have been doing for at least 20yrs now. My OG flashback was a sweetwater "last batch" blowout for $99 years back.

They still do the fangs metal and eyemaster pedals?

I wonder how their dimension-C clone sounds compared to the Boss. (?)

I think so? I thought the Fangs was pretty standard high-gain cheapie distortion pedal. Nothing to write home about. The Eyemaster is a cheapie HM-2 clone with the EQ knobs fixed at max. Killer, LOL

A bit lo-fi, and it clips a little if you strum super hard. But otherwise, really great, especiall once you consider it costs like 20% as much.

I've got the Prophet delay, and struggle with finding a tone I like, to be honest. It has a very strong 'personality', and sounds great if that's what you're after, but I find it tricky (and it could always be user error) to get more generic delay tones with it.

I struggle with 99% of the standard straightforward digital delays, TBH. I like the more laidback lo-fi analog iterations. But if you want that kinda 80's VERY present and in your face digital delay sound, I bet the Prophet is pretty good.
