Hi everyone,
i`ve been looking for an amp head to buy and decided to go for a tubemeister 36.
I`m thinking to buy the matching cab for it, which is a 2x12 cab, i was wondering if is gonna be enough for gigs in medium/large venues?
Can anyone give me their opinion?
Thanks in advance

36 watts is actually a LOT and regardless of whether you're using a 2x12 or 4x12, it's plenty of power for keeping up with a full band and for live gigs.

If you're playing large venues, chances are you'll be mic'd up anyway, so that's not an issue. For small and medium sized venues, that 36 watts, even through a 2x12 will be able to give you lots of power, perhaps more than you'll need.

I've used my Tubemeister 18 with a 4x12 at a bunch of different sized venues. Granted, I was mic'd up each time, but I also had plenty of travel on the volume knob to spare, and it was still plenty loud for the stage.

I have a closed back 212 and want another

easier to transport and lift by your lonesome ;)

36 watts of tube power is plenty for a show nowadays. Especially if your mic'ed up.
I myself actually prefer 2×12 vertiacal cabs (the horizontal I'll just put it on it's flightcase). It's much easier to haul around so you'll less likely be dependant on someone elses cab. On top of that, it obviously takes a lot more volume to get the air moving in a 4×12.

Try looking for one of those Thiele ported cabs (or two 1×12). They'll project plenty of thump if you need that.

2 x 12 you can really drive hard but 4 x 12 is better for stage volume if you are being mic'd up. I like to have some on stage volume too as well as a monitor level.

My Mesa Rectocab 2x12 was heavier -- by quite a margin -- than my Marshall 4x12 1960A. Edit: This is not true, as we'll see below.

Oddly enough, I think the smaller the venue, the more I prefer my 4x12. The closer I have to stand to my amp, the more I want the speakers elevated. A vertical 2x12 or stacked 2x12s would be my suggestion. As for larger venues, you will likely be mic'd and your selection really won't matter.

Its all about weight distribution. My 120lb Mesa 4x12 (side handles) is delightful to carry compared to my 95lb Peavey 2x12 combo (one top handle).

lord that is a lot of weight!

ya two people = two handles on 120 pound cab (cool cab :headbang:)

100 pounds with one top handle = absurd!

Work out and get some killer arm muscles and go with what sounds the best. When I'm playing live, passable doesn't cut it. I want to melt faces. That and some in house sound guys can botch the guitar foldback for you and your drummer. Just crank it. That'll learn 'em.

True say. You're not allowed to complain about the weight until you turn 65. Otherwise you just need to do more push-ups.

Les Paul Customs and 4x12 full stacks chained to 2x15 half stacks FTW

Either that or assemble an entourage to cart all your gear in for you.

yes! spinal injuries never happen, that is just folklore, its not a billion dollar industry. Strengthen those spinal cords folks, they have a capacity of 700 pounds but we need more weight and bulky objects and hard lifting issues of fitting in a car, so make those spines stronger

Working out does not compensate for improper posture when lifting. Eventually it'll get you and you'll be screwed for life. I've seen many a body builder find that out the hard way when I worked loading trucks. Keep your back straight at all times and don't be shy about getting someone to help you out.
