2x12 speaker spacing

Im building my first ever DIY 2x12 and I was wondering how do I space the 2 speakers?
like how far apart for each other and how far from the edges of the panel? like what is the formula/equation I should go by?

Thanks!

Re: 2x12 speaker spacing

I didn't use a specific formula on the ones I built. I had a little over an inch between the speakers and about two inches space to the edges.

This one I was making for my Orange head. A guy stopped by to buy a speaker from me, and he wanted it badly. I ended up selling it to him for $100. I only had time into it, as I have mucho lumber laying around from jobs. And the cloth I had from a 1x12 I built. I have since made him another, and one for a buddy of his. The last two were tolexed.

The more important formula would be how much air space is behind the speaker in the cabinet.

It usually costs about the same to build a cab as it does to buy a good one used. Unless you really know what you're doing, you'll end up with a plywood box w/speakers at retail. You'll end up with a $300 cab that's worth $100.

I'd search Craigslist everyday for a giveaway price on a cab that's already loaded with good speakers. You'll end up with a $600 cab that you can buy and sell for $300.

Just my opinion though.
