3 humbuckers, what for?

Re: 3 humbuckers, what for?

I dig the HHH setup on my LP/SG Custom. Most of the time I use it like a H-H guitar (I wired the middle humbucker to a volume pot so it can be blended in and out). When I want a slightly out of phase sound (not as quacky as a strat mind you), I blend it in all the way and usually use all 3 humbuckers at the same time or just blend the middle with the bridge. The middle humbucker definitely adds some cool tones to the mix, but it's not the thing that I personally use all the time.

Re: 3 humbuckers, what for?

Somebody here had 2 covered humbuckers with a Phat Cat in the middle on an LP. Looked very cool, especially the way the pole pieces were arraigned. The Phat cat alone in the middle should sound nice, those old single pickup Gibson 125’s sound cool, with the lone P90 in the middle.

I played a friend’s LP Custom a few years ago, loaded with stock Gibson pickups, I was actually amazed at how nice it sounded when they were combined. Three '59's or Seths would make a nice vintage sound, and the 2 & 4 positions should be usable. Not sure what you want it to sound like.
