i was planning on buying a les paul or sg(as some of you might have already known), but then i realized, strats feel so natural, so perfect... but they're a little too bright for some of the stuff i play... whats a set of 3 pickups for a strat that can gimme a nice, dark heavy heavy tones( i need GOOD clarity at high gain), along with vintage creamy solo tones, good cleans are also a must(dont have to be great, just decent). thanks

I'd say the Texas Hots if it's singles you're after...as for Strat sized mini humbuckers, that's not my favorite way to set up a Strat but I have had good luck with the JB JR's...two neck/middle models and a JB JR. bridge model. For clearer tones from the neck and middle: Little 59's and a JB JR bridge. You could go hotter still on the bridge pickup with a Hot Rails too. Lew

mine is in my signature. Lil '59 neck, cool rails middle, Distortion bridge

you can go cool rails neck, vintage rails middle, and hot rails bridge too

personally I think the best would be a lil '59 or cool rails neck, cool rails middle, and a JB jr. or hot rails bridge. you get some pretty cool strat-ish tones from splitting the coils too.
