3 Pickup 3 volume wiring schematic?

Hi all... want to say that i have been reading and listening here for a month and am very impressed by some members!

So here goes my question:

I have a hum-sc-hum config on my strat with a 5 way sw.

I want to have a seperate volume for each pickup. Anyone know where i can find a schematic or wiring diagram for this? thanks in advance.

Just look at a normal schematic for a normal volume pot, and copy it 3 times for each pickup, send the outputs from teh volume pots to the switch and wire the switch normally.

That would be fine except that I think that each volume pot then becomes the master volume, and you would lose volume on each pickup selected. In other words, the lowest volume becomes the master.

I will try it though. Thanks.

Hopefully there is more than one way to skin this cat.

Just remember to use the black for the humbuckers as hot, solder the red and white together and tape them off, and connect bare and green to ground. I ran out of room and had to erase the other parts of the diagram. Also, remember to connect all of the volume pots together via the casing, and the casing to the string ground.

The volumes will interact with eachother when in notched positions (2 and 4). Otherwise, they will be totally independant, as long as the pickup is being played independant.

Oh, well, why didn't you say so?! Haha. Switch lugs 2 and 3 on each volume pot. That way, teh volume wont interact with one another in that sense. (lugs 2 and 3 are the 2 terminals that AREN'T soldered directly to the ground.)

Really? I was under the impression that this would just make the volume pot work backwards? Or was that switching the terminals 1 and 3?

Its important to understand that no matter how you connect them, there will be compromises in tone. You're trying to build a passive mixer, and they just don't work. Thats why all my guitars are master volume/master tone. The problem is bad enough with two volume pots, worse with three. There's just no good way around it.
