I've been working on a project in which I wired up a 3 Pick-up Les Paul with 3 volume controls and one master tone. The bridge and neck pickups are standard HBs, and the middle is a Phat Cat P90.. 3 way control works as normal LP, with the middle pickup being hot all the time. So in the middle position on the three-way switch, all pickups are on..
SO here's the problem.. The volume controls on the neck and bridge work normally when the middle p/u volume is all the way down. but when the middle volume is added, the volumes on the neck and bridge have a bit of a stepped effect, where there is little change over most of the span, then there is a sudden big change close to the 3/4 volume area.. its almost on/off sensitivity in the 3/4 volume area.. additionally if they (all active volumes) are at 3/4 or below, the interactions are relatively balanced. but if one of the two is at full volume, the other is kind of sudden change around the 3/4 spot. Additional info, all pots are 500K Audio taper.
Do I need a different pot on the Phat Cat?, Linear vs audio taper? adda resistor to make the Ohms more similar between the P-90 and the HBs?...
