3 Pole/4 Position Rotary Switch for H-H Guitar Help Please?

Hey guys, so I have just bought a "3 Pole, 4 Position Rotary Switch Pot" and am planning on installing it into my old Peavey Predator H/H guitar as the switch was always kinda bugged me.

I thought I knew enough to just install it myself but after looking at it and comparing it to the diagrams that I can find, it is confusing me a bit.

Firstly, I cannot tell which pin is No:1-12 etc, and also, this only has 3 lugs in the middle and many of the diagrams I can find have 2 or 4. (Or if they do have three, then I just cant tell which pin corresponds to which etc).

I have read these can do: bridge-both parrallel-both series-neck, which is interesting. Would also just be happy with bridge-both-neck-off.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure, but I would say that it's set up like this:

Each of the 3 "pie pieces" is a pole, and the numbers represent which of the outer lugs is connected to the center "common" for each switch position. When the switch is on position "1" all three of the "ones" are connected to their respective common for each pole. Same thing with the twos, threes and fours.

Hope that helps!

That's an SMD switch, is that really what you needed?

Cool! Thanks man, I'll compare it to the other wiring diagrams I found and see if I can work it out.

You're welcome!

If you have a multimeter, it's easy to verify.

I'm not sure what you mean man? I dunno what I'm doing anyway lol

SMD means it's a Surface Mount Device, used in manufacturing. You don't hand solder wires to it. It gets placed on a circuit board and put in an oven to solder it.

Okay, got it all going. Sounds good to me. Even uses the spare (1st) pole as a kill switch \m/.

Probably could have added a link from ground at 10 o'clock to the top mounting lug at 12 O'clock, but whatever its working fine and looks way better than the throw switch IMO.

Thanks for the tips.

Diagram for: Image41111hhh.jpg

1st- Kill Mode
2nd-Bridge Only
3rd- Both Bridge and Neck (Parallel?)
4th- Neck Only
