One for the guru's ~>

Here's what I have .. 3 soapbars ~> 3 pots ~> 3-way toggle.

what I want is ~> master vol & tone for neck and bridge pups wired to 3-way in standard fashion ... and a seperate and independent vol for the middle pup so it can be used alone, or blended w/ the others.

I have it wired like above .. but the mid pup is still gov'd by the "master vol" .. which is cool and is giving me 95% of what I want .. but I would love to have the ability to use the mid alone .. while retaining the std wiring on the switch.

tips trix suggestions???

Thanks ~Greg

If I'm reading this right, it sounds like you have the output of your middle volume taken to the master volume input. I believe you could just take it to the master volume output (wiper) instead. Its hard to say for sure without seeing a wiring diagram of what you have.

Hmmm . . . as I re-read this, I think I see what the problem is. You want to be able to turn off the neck/bridge so the middle can be used alone. If thats the case, there's a couple different ways to do this.

1. Use a simple on/off switch on the output of the pup selector switch to turn it off.

2. Use a "blend" pot for the middle pup, so that you can fade between the middle and neck/bridge.

A 3-way toggle between the midle and neck/bridge would be cool also. So you could select neck/bridge, all three, or middle.

thanks artie .. yeah I've thought about going w/ the blender ...

let me see if I can explain the current wiring ..

the "hots" from neck and bridge pups run to the 3-way and back to the master vol. which is wired to the tone like a tele would be .

the mid pup bypasses the switch and tone ...

one way ... the master vol has control over the mid ... the other way I wired it.. the mid vol had control over the other 2 .

the goal is to make them completely independent from one another w/o adding a switch.

kinda like the mod for les pauls .. that keeps the vol's seperate when using both pups combined ... instead of std where when combined if you roll off one vol all the way they both turn off..

thanks again ~G
