$30 P Bass copy

I bought a P bass copy off CL for very little money. I already have a number of basses. Short of turning it into a fretless how else should I sodomize this thing and turn it into an interesting frankenbass?

Here are some things I've done as successful bass experiments.

-Get an interesting pickup like the QP or Dimarzio Split P.

-Try some unconventional strings. Tapes, flats, stainless steel, something you haven't tried before.

-Tune it to your desired tension rather than your desired pitch.

-Go BEAD on it. Or ADGC.

-Make it a piccolo bass.

-Make it a 2 string bass.

Won't share my unsuccessful bass experiments, lol

Please, don't destroy the bass just because it was cheap :)... "if it aint broke, don't fix it!!" :D

I'd put on some nice strings, a good pickup, maybe upgrade the obvious.

:)

rock on!!

I said sodomize not slap and tickle. I am thinking enlarge the route to house a full sized humbucker. That would be big enough for a mudbucker or a quad rail.

^^ I'd recommend routing it for atleast TWO huge pickups, one right by the neck (mudbucker style) ;) ... that's my personal fav. bass pickup & placement! :D

Weird electronics?

Definitely new paint. I prefer something with sparkle, your mileage may vary
