I need to sound good without gettin too loud:27:
I usually play mid gain crunchy stuff,I love oranges and i think about rocker 30 combo.
Have you got any other recommendation whose prices are less than 1500$(the less the better of course:smokin: )

Re: 30w tube combo

You might get along fine with a peavey classic 30. Try one out but make sure to crank it to at least 7 in the store.

Re: 30w tube combo

If you find out you like the classic 30, I have one that has only about ten hrs. on it. It's an older model (black not tweed) that I bought at our local store. It was found behind a couple of stacks a couple of years later. I bought it for $450.00. I have'nt played it much because I bought one of Scott's Celtics. I will let it go for $350.00 + shipping. One of these days I will officially put it up for sale, but if your interested, let me know. What ever you buy, good luck with your search.

+1 on the Classic 30.

I have an older Peavey Classic 20 that kicks butt.

Peavey also just announced a low watt, single ended Valveking model called the Royal 8 that might be a good crunch machine. 5watts 8" speaker. Will probably run around 200 dollars

Re: 30w tube combo

I had a Carvin Bel Air which was really awesome - That's a 50watt amp but they make the nomad model which i think is 30w??????

Have been tempted recently by a 90s fender blues deluxe though

Re: 30w tube combo

30 watts may be too much for what you want to do. 30 watts is loud. For recording I would go with something like an old Classic 20 (I love mine) or maybe that 16/5 watt Carvin.

Since you have a big budget, you should check out the new Fender Princeton recording amp. It sounds great from what I've heard of it. It has a built in attenuator, footswitchable overdrive and compression. It's about $1000 I think. Here's a video of it.. sounds really good.

Re: 30w tube combo

30 watts tube is actually pretty loud. For home/recording, I would keep it under 20 watts. There are many 5 to 15 watt amps that are worth considering. Some cool ones are the Vox AC15, Epiphone Valve Jr., and some small ones from Z Vex and Orange.
