335 copies: best bang for the buck?

Re: 335 copies: best bang for the buck?

I am not a huge fan of the 335 either !
(...I love, W. ALL MY HEART, the ES-125's)

So, do look into the Schecter Corsair's ! (new $660.00, used, even less, and they come with fully blown SD pu's as standard !

Also do NOT forget about the hollow body Gretsch Electromatic's !!!
Not 335 twin cut-a-way, but a Gretsch none the less !!!

These are really nice IMO.

Re: 335 copies: best bang for the buck?

I found that they were hit and miss. I played a bunch of Epis and the quality on them ranged considerably. I also played the Ibanez and the Gibsons to compare them to.

In the end the one that spoke to me was an Epi Dot Studio in Tomato that had the fattest neck of all of them and reasonated like a bell.

I have one of those as well and it is a freakin killer guitar! Getting great tone from that thing

Re: 335 copies: best bang for the buck?

I would NEVER ebay one of these. Sound and feel can really range.

For maximum cheap - you'll laugh: epiphone studio DOT. However, most are only ok. every now and again I'll hit a great one though. 3 bills new!

More likely to find quality with an Ibanez for 3-4 or so. But again, you gotta play a few.

My personal choice, Max performance for the money: Used sheraton. Can't beat it Many are great! 400 plus

After that they get more expensive and the cost/performance bonus just falls away......

Re: 335 copies: best bang for the buck?

Just took a peek at what M-Friend had to offer in the Schecter Corsair model and found a pretty good price there
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Schecter-CORSAIR-Electric-Guitar-?sku=512137
It even comes with a Bigsby, which could be pretty cool. I think I might go to the local Guitar Center store with a copy of the M-F ad and see what they got. They'll match anything in price if they have it in stock, and I know they sell Schecter. I have a Schecter C-1 Classic and know they use good materials to build their guitars. Time to do some comparing, but I'll still keep an eye out for a really good Korean or MIJ Sheraton.

Whelp, I'd love to get a Hamer Newport for about $900-$1000 used, but that Yamaha looks pretty doable too. This really great Jazz/rock player used to come to our open jams a few years back with one of those Yamaha's and he sounded every bit as good as he played...Which was, Very.

Re: 335 copies: best bang for the buck?

Yamaha is good stuff, no doubt. But you get what you pay for...or in this case you pay for what you get.

Re: 335 copies: best bang for the buck?

Some MIJ copies ...or MIK (eg Tokai) can be found at reasonable prices.

Might need new electronics and pickups.
