lol....that's the first thing that popped in my mind as well.I need to learn to play the first 22 well before I bother with another entire octave!
Anyway Uli Jon Roth has a 36 fret guitar or 32 I don't remember.

TimmyPage said:I've heard one or two of those played.. and it sounds hideous. The regular 24 frets sound alright but.. well.. guitar amps just don't actually sound pleasant above that octave, its like bees flying in your ears, stinging your brain.
Or worse: violins.

Do not understand this logic at all.
It would take you about 2 days at most to get used to the extra frets.
Self depreciating humor, man. He's just joking around saying he sucks.
I know, but even so, whenever people make these jokes, I get the feeling they think there's element of truth to it.
A lot of people are hesitant to try out extended range instruments in fear of it being "too difficult", when in reality, most people that make the switch to say, a 6 to a 7 string guitar, or a 7 to 8 string get their head around it rather quickly.
It's just another tool in the box, not some strange or weird instrument.
I think it would be awesome to see more people getting into 7, 8 or even 9 string guitars, in addition to playing their 6 strings.
people are doing it all wrong man, we dont need more high frets, just more low frets!
BRING ON THE STONER RIFFS.
