3x Hot Rails diagram help

Hello gang,

I plan on updating my rig to 3x Hot rails. I know some of you prefer the vintage/cool/hot setup but I like the heavier sound of the hot. Plus that's what Dave Murray likes and I'm a big fan. Okay here's my dilemma. I found 4 diagrams on SD and don't know which one of the 3 I should use.

Also What pots and caps?

Re: 3x Hot Rails diagram help

I agree to use the 4th diagram. I recommend a 500k linear taper volume and a 250k no load tone with a 22nf cap.

Re: 3x Hot Rails diagram help

Thanks guys. Would a 300k be a better fit or 250k? If it's for the "No-Load" I can make the 300k no-load. I used to make my own and it's very simple but you need to be careful not to break it when taking it apart and putting it back together.

Re: 3x Hot Rails diagram help

I'd probably use 500k pots overall. At least start there, and if you notice an issue you can change them out. I have a hard time thinking that 500k would be too bright with a set of Hot Rails, though.

Re: 3x Hot Rails diagram help

Which one of the "3" diagrams to use? I'd also recommend #4.

Definitely use 500k pots for vol and tone. I prefer audio taper, but it is a personal preference if you like how a linear taper feels.
