Got fed up of rescuing the corroded braid on Bart output cable. Also, wondered whether series/parallel wiring would help achieve better output level balance with a 9JL#4 in the bridge position.

By luck, some 4-con + shield cable left over from a Triple Shot installation was exactly the right length to run from the pickup terminals to the push-pull tone pot.

Re: 4-con + shield mod for Bartolini 8S P Bass pickup

UPDATE:

Turned out that the Bartolini 8S wired in parallel still sounds pretty thick and deep. (i.e. Like any other maker's normal P Bass type pickup.) Series mode is the familiar, humungous, deep, full sound that we all know and love. (Well, some of us.)

In parallel, when combined with a Bartolini 9J#4 bridge position Jazz Bass style pickup, the honk is improved but the 8S still dominates. Hence, the only way to approximate a Fender sound is to have the 9J#4 up full and roll the 8S in parallel down.

Be seeing you.
