Hey all,

Im looking for some help wiring up this particular switch.
Its a 4 pole 12 terminal on/on/on...for some reason, it doesn't work. I have no idea. I copied the wiring out of another guitar and did the same exact wiring in this one, and im getting only one pickup.
Id appreciate the help!

Re: 4 Pole 3 Way

My guess is that the switch in the origianl schematic was on/on. The centre position of your new switch is ****ing things up.

Re: 4 Pole 3 Way

there's gotta be a way for this to work...
this switch is nice and tight, don't like the switchcraft...tops fall off, not good for my preference...

Re: 4 Pole 3 Way

It's a nice switch, why not use it?

It would be helpful if you were to post some idea of how you wired the switch - either a drawing or photo, and how you want it to work.

Your switch works like this:

They're manufactured both ways. You may need to use a meter to determine which you have.

Re: 4 Pole 3 Way

Artie...thanks man, now im getting somewhere...

I got it through Allparts, so im assuming its the "Alco" type?

So basically, I need to solder the leads on the prongs that are marked? I don't really understand what the diagram calls for...what site did you get this off of?

Re: 4 Pole 3 Way

Artie's diagram is showing which lugs are connected internally by the switch in each position, and it's likely he created it himself. You could use it to determine where you want to connect your wires to create the switching you want. Or, you could tell us the switching you want and we can tell you where to solder. But first, you need to figure out which switch it is.

Re: 4 Pole 3 Way

You want to test for continuity, most meters have a setting for this. When the meter's probes are shorted there should be a beep or light etc. If your meter doesn't have a continuity setting you can piece one together with a 9 volt battery, an LED, a resistor and some wire.
