hi,
i am installing a 4-way switch in my tele. i have looked at the wiring diagram on the seymour duncan site. the diagram labels the switch as a 3-way. is this a mistake in the wiring diagram?

thanks,
dave

Re: 4-way tele switch

i'm racking my brain, trying to figure out what possition 4 could possibly be used for, but i can't think of anything. Why don't you just use the 3-way it came with..?

Re: 4-way tele switch

EP: You use a 4-way to get the two pickups in series instead of parallel.
It's just a mislabling. There's an extra lug on each side of the switch as compared to the diagrammed 3-way switches.

Two singles on a Tele in series, like a humbucker? That's gotta sound weeeird, but I could see why you'd do it.

I've got a 4-way on order for my tele. I really want to hear what a pair of Quarter Pounders sound like in series.

Re: 4-way tele switch

the tele I just got has a 4 way

I like the series position -- it's fat and vocal ... but the other positions will take some getting used to because they're backwards from a regular tele

Re: 4-way tele switch

Wrote Today about trying a Tele with a 5way and a DPDT to get alot of tones hopefully but need any suggestions I can get. Please see my earlier thread today...Thanks....C

Re: 4-way tele switch

ive used one off an on. the wiring is a pain but once you get it right, i think the 4th position is usable.

curly, so from the neck side its wired bridge/parallel/neck/series? that is weird, typically it is series/neck/parallel/bridge so just like a normal tele but with one more click closer to the neck. if yours is reversed, id just flip the switch over
