5 conductor Seth lover neck pickup

two questions really,
1. are 550k pots going to be ok with this pickup. I have some WD mini 550k 9% tolerance pots? (335 copy guitar- Ibanez ays153)
2. why does it have a bare wire and a green that both go to ground, and what should i be getting as readings? getting 7.4 between black and green with the red and white connected. but getting random readings between the back/bare wire, and the earth /bare wire.

The bare wire isn't connected to the coil, it's connected to the baseplate to ground that as well as the cover, screw poles, and the shielding of the hookup lead. 550k pots should be fine, it's a nice chirpy neck pickup. 7.4k is a good reading.
