5 way selector > single coil + p-rails for a "Nashville" like mod on telecaster
Hi guys,
Thanks in advance for those who are willing to add some clarity here. I came across this product that I am considering because it uses a solderless terminal very much like the liberator pots SD sells but comes pre wired for a telecaster plate.
It includes a 5-way selector switch to be able to target all 3 pickups individually (1. neck single coil, 2. Hot rail, 3. P90) the neck and middle (Single coil+ hot rail), the middle and bridge (hot rail + P90) as a humbucker in parrallel, while also being able to bring in the neck pickup via the push pull pot. Pretty sweet if you ask me!
Everything I have found so far leads me to believe that when the position switch is set to where both the “middle” and “bridge” is active, the P-Rails will output as a humbucker in parallel mode. See here.
But what if I wanted the humbucker to be in series? I understand that usually in order to do this I would need to combine the ground from the P90 portion to the hot of the rail. My question is how exactly to do this with the solderless terminal. Should I just put these two wires into the same bank like below?
