^ Dis, Gregory is correct......electrically and functionally the lugs that the tone pot are connected still make the tone control function identically. In fact it matters not even if the cap is between the volume pot and the tone pot lugs ( or between the tone control and ground (like above).....the function and the sweep and the sound are identical.
The big difference lies in how the tone pot interacts with the pickup......and that is wholly due to its connection to the volume pot. This same resonance damper is also why the volume pot value affects the pickup.
