50's Rock 'n' Roll

Re: 50's Rock 'n' Roll

As a scholar of the field (not scholar as in I know everything - far from it, scholar in that it's what I'm currently devoting all of my time to learning), I'd say you just need to practice.

When I listened to that song right now, it's the first time I heard that clip. And I started playing along right away. There's just little tricks that these guys do, dozens of them. You just need to practice to figure it out, honestly. Youtube is a fantastic source.

All 50's rock is just 3 chords, which you should play power chord style. However, they throw in 6ths, 7ths, and other little fun things that I don't know the names to. But they all follow the same patterns, you'll figure it out.

I know this post isn't real helpful, you just need to watch a lot of old videos and practice a lot.
