Re: 5150 Clip

The rhythm sound is nice, I like the amount of distortion it has. Lots of people use too much IMO.

How's the M-Audio treating you? I've been looking at one myself. What made you go for it?

Re: 5150 Clip

Very nice sound jeff! Very thick sound!

The part before the "lead" reminds me a bit of a hardcore mosh part ;)

Re: 5150 Clip

TWO unholy funny things that i couldn´t notice ...
the Ass record point of the speaker/grill cabinet.. http://photobucket.com/albums/v356/DeadSkinSlayer36/5150/?action=view&current=DSCN5543.jpg

Re: 5150 Clip

I was really impressed with that clip man. Dide you use the Lead or Rhythm channel? I still need to figure out what a better boost to tighten up my 5150 would be. A Boss SD-1 or a Maxon OD808. Any advice?

Re: 5150 Clip

Nice tone. Of course the fact that you have the script model helps. :D That's the one I used to have. Can be tame as a kitten or wild as a mountain lion...LOL.

It looks like the mic is pointing at the center of the cone. Experiment with it a little bit. Try off-axis and angled towards the outter edge of the center. That's one of my favorite placements because the mic pattern covers a lot more of the speaker itself. Just an idea to play with if you want.

Re: 5150 Clip

Thanks guys!

I used the red channel for everything but the clean bit.

The OD808 owns the crap out of the SD-1.

The mic position is actually right about where the cone meets the rest of the speaker. I experimented with this a bunch before I taped off the spot I liked best.

The 'doghouse' is to prevent reflections around the cabinet from getting into the mic, and it works quite well ;).

The only thing I'm going to do is run my C4 settings a bit more heavily to tame the low-mid mud.

Hails ERIK, whats that position? -> Try off-axis and angled towards the outter edge of the center.

Re: 5150 Clip

Sounds like a 5150 for sure,, really loose on the bottom. Seems like your style would require something a bit tighter?

Great clip though, what are you using for drums,, I NEED help with drums badly..

Re: 5150 Clip

loose on the bottom end? humm i´m not sure about that.
maybe it´s his gear/settings/pickups.. or , the mic capture.. or.. !?!?!?
but i liked it.. i got a tighter Bass sound with my 81... and with my CC too.

Off-axis is with the mic not at the center of the speaker, about halfway between the edge and the center. Point it towards the outter edge of the center is basically what DSS did (where the cone meets the rest of the speaker) but from the opposite side. See the attached image.

By pointing the mic at the speaker like this, the pattern of the mic covers more of the speaker. It sounds fuller this way.

Glad to see you finally got the major up and running. I was afraid you might explode if you didn't get it soon.
