57 Classics in a 335 style?

Yeah. I have two sets of Epi c I pies, one taken from my LP and the other from my V. Both sets sounded quite muddy to my ears.
Were they actual Classic 57s, or the infamous Alnico Classics?
Alnico Classics deserved their "mudbucker" nickname - often a solid block of wax under the covers.

It's possible the Classic 57s could be just as heavily encrusted; don't know for sure.
If so, removing the wax might make a big difference. May be worth taking the covers off to check.

Correction.

Probuckers (Alnico 2) from the Epi LP and Alnico Classic / Classic Plus (Alnico 2 again) from the V.

Despite the name change I expect they're all the same under the hood.

The specs don't look bad for a stock set. But Seth's in a semi hollow. Especially if you play mainly clean to crunch.

I was surprised how hot that bridge from the V was.

I only found one of the other set of Epis to measure, which I think is the neck ( marked PB2NHCN-4-2) which measured 8.0 kohm.

Both the Gibson 57s measured about 7.9 kohm.

the gibson 57 classics are quite different than the epi versions. i dont mind the gibson versions but the epi versions never did much for me
