Yep, the MIA Christian. Just wanted opinions if its worth the $1,300.00 price tag or is an American Standard or American Deluxe a better buy.

the golden purchase would be a decent mia used strat, anything from hwy 1 to deluxe. You wont suffer the new to used price drop, and you'd probably get a better setup than the factory.

Yes the guitar is worth $1300.00 if you have it to spend. When I bought my Jimmy Vaughan I used a brand new 57 reissue to campare to, to be honest I much prefered the JV...the nut is wider (1 11/16 vs 1 5/8), the JV has a satin finished neck instead of thick gloss, the JV has MJ frets instead of vintage skinny frets, the JV has a 9.5 inch radius instead of 7.25. The 57 reissue goes for about $900 used (the one I played was new, and $1299.00), the JV's go for about $450.00-550.00 used (look hard, I paid MUCH less and it still had plastic on the guardplate). The hardware on the MIA 57 is the SAME as on the JV, the MIA pickups (Fender CS 57/62) are IMO not as good as the JV pickups. The JV has the same pots and jack but the switch is not quite as good (but the JV already has a 5-way, and while it is not as good as the MIA it is a solid switch). I know it sounds like I am slamming the MIA 57, but IMO the JV is simply a much better guhitar for a LOT better price, unless you actually like wire frets, 7.25 radius, glossy necks, 3 way switches, and a pretty hefty price tag! If you want to know anything else feel free to ask...I spent over 3 hours with these 2 guitars!

Like I said bro, the MIA 57 is a great guitar, and for the money a killer guitar compared to a real 57 Strat, but if you're on a budget and/or you prefer a slightly more modern and/or bigger neck the JV is a sure thing...the stock pups are amazing for stock pups, and IMO are the best Fender single coils Fender makes right now...I am gonna change them but not because I think I have to, I just have a thing for alnico II pups!

I have the MIA '57 RI, the guitar is really solid, great tuners, good wood, nitro finish, gorgeous looking gloss on the neck, heavy vintage RI bridge, its built like a rock. I never got comfortable with the stock pups so I swapped em out and it brought the guitar alive. If you dont like a round radius however this is not the guitar for you, I personally like the feel it gives. It really lets me dig into notes, at first it kinnda felt like I was battling with the guitar to play it but now it just helps add to my sound and playing it is second nature.

I have on from the mid 80's (1987 to be exact). This was my First Strat I ever bought. The only thing I would say could be an issue is the neck radius. When I bought mine the neck radius was 7¼". As with all vintage Strats this tends to force you to play with higher action than with a flatter FB. A 9½" radius is a lot easier to deal with. Due to other reasons I changed the neck on mine. I put a RW Warmouth neck on it, primarily because I have 2 other Strats that also had maple FB. I also upgraded the PUPS. Do not think of these as problem areas. I had left the guitar compleley stock until I bought my other Strats. Then I made some changes so it would work for me the way I needed it too. Great guitar

I like it alot. The stock pups sound real nice and the neck is nice and comfy. I almost walked out with an American Deluxe. I loved the neck (it almost felt chunkier than the standard in some respects), but I just don't dig the pickups and S-1 switching. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just lacks the "strat quack" in some way....Nice axe though!
And...The case the 50th Anniv. comes with is killer!
I'm leaving this one stock in hopes that someday, it will go up in value. Who knows....
