'59 and 80's Metal

Re: '59 and 80's Metal

Mars used them in his Kramer tele's. It should be fine.

Re: '59 and 80's Metal

it sure can and yes it can even do modern metal too...all depends on the amp and amount of gain it has for that. i have one in one of my charvels and i love it!

Re: '59 and 80's Metal

+1 More about the amp these days than the pup. As I have said before, I could get a heavy sound out of a refrigerator magnet wrapped in a lamp cord from the recto setting on my amp....

A 59 is just an all around good pup. You may be able to find a pup that does it better or more- but don't let anyone tell you a 59 CAN'T do it!

Re: '59 and 80's Metal

Ben useing a 59 for years, Dokken, Ratt, Crue, OZZY, etc. Let your amp do the work.

Re: '59 and 80's Metal

Alright thanks guys! I have one and want to use it in my 80's metal tribute guitar and I am trying to cut back on how much money I have to spend. I just saved $80 bucks!

Thanks,
Eric

Re: '59 and 80's Metal

It should work just fine. We need some pics and a review when you get it all finished, though. :D

Re: '59 and 80's Metal

A '59 will do it fine. I've even used stock Gibson '57 classic pickups. Just use a booster, such as a tube screamer, SD pickup booster, Boss SD-1.

Re: '59 and 80's Metal

Lower-output pickup - Amp does the work.
Higher-output pickup - Pickup does the work.
