59 and reverse polarity 59

Re: 59 and reverse polarity 59

the reason for the reverse polarity 59 is for splitting options. they had those on the big apple? strat. the five way gave you neck and bridge at 1 and 5 then three split coil options that were all humcancelling which wouldnt have worked with out the reverse polarity neck pup

Re: 59 and reverse polarity 59

No, they're normal four conductors.

It may have been that philch792 had his guitar wired wrong at the factory.
Maybe some fellow worker got confused because of a reverse polarity neck pickup...

Guitar has standard :

- neck
- neck || bridge
- bridge

- neck split
- neck split || bridge split
- bridge split

Anyway, only reason I see for RP pickup is that in parallel mode different cores are combined than in conventional pickup.
Conventional humbucker wiring engages outer windings, whereas with RP, you have to combine two windings closest to the bridge from each humbucker, to get noise canceling mode.

Polarity is about magnets so a "reverse polarity 59" would be one with a flipped magnet. The End.
