59 Birdge in the neck

Re: 59 Birdge in the neck

It will actually be more bassy. A bridge version of a pickup is usually wound a little hotter and and with more bass to compensate for less string movement and brighter response at the bridge position.

If the '59 is too bassy, try the Jazz Neck.

Re: 59 Birdge in the neck

My 59 bridge is REALLY bassy, in my LP's neck. Like super, crazy bassy. But I kinda like that.

Although I am looking out for a zebra JazzB to replace it. I miss my Jazz's!

Re: 59 Birdge in the neck

The '59B is exactly like a stock '59 or '60 Gibson paf. In those days Gibson would have used the same pickup as the neck pickup as they used for the bridge pickup...they were not calibrated.

The 59N is an underwound version of the stock '59 or '60 Gibson paf.

Personally, I'd go with the neck version of 59, or the Jazz neck or the Pearly Gates neck. Unless you play with distortion all the time...then go ahead and use the hotter 59B or Jazz B.
