59 Bridge or Blues Saraceno trembucker

I`m wondering which of those pickups would work out for a nice warm crunchy sound. I`d be putting it a Washburn N2 with a Floyd trem and playing hard rock:6: Any idea how either of those pickups would sound with an A2 magnet?

I'd go with the Blues Trembucker for warm and crunchy. It has more mids, a little more output, and more warmth than the '59. It is without a doubt my favorite bridge pickup in the Duncan lineup. In fact, I'm going to have the custom shop wind me a standard spaced, standard polepiece version with a nickel cover so I can get that sound in a hardtail guitar. I'm planning on experimenting with some new magnet swap ideas, I'm going to put an A3 '59 bridge and an A2 Jazz neck in a Wolfgang. I know a couple people have really liked the A3 '59 in the neck spot, but I haven't seen anyone try it in the bridge yet.

I suppose I could try that tonight and report back tomorrow. My prediction would be that it won't be as fat or bassy as an A5 but it'll maintain some brightness.

I'll second the Blues. 9.8k vs. 8.1K, :smack: I'd use it myself if I had a trem.

Heh, that didn't take long.

I tried an A5 first, A3 second, and finally my ceramic.

A5 was warm, lots of bass and smooth but bright highs. Probably the least midrange of the three.

A3 had less bass, the mids (upper mids in particular) came through more. A bit more "honky" or "woody". Still bright though.

CERAMIC (I'm going for xtra credit) More mids than the A5, but FULLER mids than the A3. More output, more distortion, more brightness. Distorted, it has this "explosive" quality to it (I love hitting a D5 with an open A in the bass:14:

If you haven't tried putting a Ceramic in your PAF clone, I highly recommend it. I bet a Ceramic Pro would be cool...
