59 bridge/seth neck for LP?

he guys....do you think a 59 bridge paired with a Seth Lover neck would be a good combo in a les paul?

i want a set that sounds good clean in particular, as well as for good natural overdriven tones, ala Allman Brothers

lively even tone in the bridge, but not too bright...with no dominating frequencies...... and warm juicy tone in the neck, with least amount of boomy bass as possible....sort of Led Zeppelin in bridge, Allman brothers for the neck....catch my drift?... i think the 59/Seth may be a good answer?

Sounds like a good combo to me, though maybe a Seth Lover bridge would be even better, especially if you put an Alnico 5 magnet in it.

Never tried that combo but those are two are great pickups and some 50's Les Paul actually came with one a2 pickup like the Seth and one a5 pickup like the 59B. Gibson didn't care...as long as it worked!

I like an a2 neck pickup like the Seth because it has less bass than the alnico 5 59 and sounds less muddy when playing chords loud.

I like an a5 bridge pickup like the 59B because it has more highs and more bass and in the bridge position that can be a plus as the pickup picks up less bass near the bridge...so an a5 59B might sound a little deeper than the Seth bridge.

A set of Seths, a set of 59's or a combo of the two would all sound great!

yes....i just know that i dislike lots of bass, thats the one thing i dont want, so im pretty sure i don't want an A5 pickup for the neck spot......

well, i have a 59 bridge on the way, so i guess the 59/SL combo i will try out!

do you think the 59 has a good clean tone for the bridge?.....meaning, is it somewhat full sounding, and not too toppy?

The 59B might be my favorite all around bridge humbucker. Depending on the amp and how loud I'm playing, it reminds me of Clapton's tone with Cream and John Mayall and also Jeff Beck's tone on Truth.

The 59's are like the pickups in those zillion dollar '59 and '60 Les Pauls that are worth a fortune!

Someone (maybe RGN?) posted here a few weeks ago that the 59B in his Strat reminded him of EVH's tone on the first album or two. I totally agree...especially through a cranked Marshall or similar amp. I have the 59B in two of my Strats.

I think it has a very full tone though some younger players who are sold on super overwound pickups might want more mids. The 59B has plenty of mids to my ears.
