59/Custom 5 or Full Shred set for a Mahogany set neck guitar?

Haven't played on a FS bridge yet, but given how I perceive the neck version, I think you're right on the spot. Besides, of all the pickups I've fiddled with so far, the best matching bridge pup in both mahogany as well as alder for FS neck is the TB-5 Custom. And the FS bridge is apparently a Custom spin-off, which kind of makes sense. The great thing about the Custom family is that swapping mags gives us access to a great array of tones. Is the TB-5 too much? Throw in an A2 magnet and there's a Custom Custom right there, less output, loose lows and verall more musical. This is where the Custom wind really rocks.

By the way, how does the TB-5 perform on clean settings?.

Have two sugestions in Mahogany.
The Saturday Night Specials I really like in Mahogany. Very clean and articulate great cleans in a warmer guitar.
Also may want to Look at the Perpetual Burn in the bridge as it is spot on what you describe in comparison to a JB and maybe something like a Whole Lotta Humbucker or the Slash neck. I'm running 2 one with singles and one with a Sentient in the neck. Love the PB with singles split but it's not balancing to my ear with the Sentient and needs something with a little softer attack and more sweet. The Hybrid I also love but it packs a big mid wallop so be aware.

In terms of brightness, how would the SN Special an the PB compare to the JB?.

The full shred neck with an A2 magnet is one of the best neck pickup sounds I’ve ever heard. It has a sweetness without being especially smooth or wooly like the A2Pro and retains much of the definition and character of the full shred neck.

For a solid Mahogany guitar I REALLY like the Hybrid with a Sentient. Have that set up now in my Mahogany neck and body Carvin DC 400 and had that set up in my solid KOA DC 127 ( running a ALT 8 in the bridge now). Very dynamic set up that can get sweet and also can get very aggressive if needed. The split tones with both together are jaw dropping good an almost Tele like!!.
Here is the DC 127 with both a Hybrid and a Sentient split live doing some Country style stuff.

I think that the Full Shred set is the “cleanest“ set that Duncan makes.

I remember speaking with Bill Lawrence over the phone one time. He said that his overall approach was to make the cleanest and clearest sounding possible pickups.

He said by doing that, the player got an incredible range of usable tones from controls on the equalization of their amplifier.

So adjust the EQ on that amp.

It would be really interesting to try a Full Shred set with Alnico 2 magnets.
