59/Custom Custom Hybrid anyone

"Rough cast" A5 is about 98% identical to a regular "polished" A5.

"Unoriented" A5 (aka: UOA5) on the other hand, has a much more noticeable difference because of the altered internal structure of the magnet. They are naturally weaker than regular (oriented) A5 and exhibit qualities more inline with what you might expect from something like an A2, but with an output that sits between the two. It's a great magnet that doesn't get enough attention sometimes!

Yeah, it's a regular RC A5. I like the WLH, but the high end is a little bright. It's a good bridge pickup nevertheless. It's very much an A5 high-end

I found the mag in my WLH to be polished even though they say it's RC.

i know this is off topic but whatever. has anyone tried a custom/jb hybrid? thinking it could be awesome for a higher output pup with good cut and clarity

I have a A2 in a 59/C hybrid in a strat and it sounds incredible.

Yes, I thought it was a winner. It adds the clear bass from the Custom coil instead of it being all cut up like the JB. Then it's more clear bottom to top with the hot PAF sound of the Custom coil but with the mids of the JB.

Like Mincer, I just didn't like the sound of the JB with any magnet that I could get my hands on. It sounds a little different but still unmistakably JB. I can't imagine that even hybridding it with a coil from a Custom could even help it (and I love the Custom...except for the ceramic mag).

But a Custom/A2P (or CC/Jazz, etc.) could be a good sound.
