59/custom height in Fat Strat

I just ordered a loaded HSS pickguard for my American deluxe Strat, with a 59/C in the bridge and surfers in the neck/middle.

I know that there will likely be an output discrepancy between the three pickups, but also know that my favorite pickup SD has ever made is the 59/C and is relatively sensitive to height adjustments.

Knowing that the surfers will be in the neck and middle, (and i think they will be accommodating that with a 300k master volume pot) how low would you recommend I go with the 59/C? I know the ultimate answer is listen to your ears, but trying to get a good starting point.

I'm sorry to mess up your post but I'm a new member and I can't find how I can post a thread on this forum. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!
In each subforum, there is a button on the left side for posting. To the OP, the Hybrid will rock. It is certainly the right pickup.

Put two US nickels on the side of the humbucker then raise it until it just barely touches the string. Repeat for the high E side, but with one nickel. Then tweak from there. It's how I read to do it from Bill Lawrence.

It's a humbucker. Start at 3/16 treble and 5/16ths bass. And then it will likely go a bit lower.

But don't listen top me. Go by....wait for it....your ears!

I just go very close, and it will sound pretty bad. As I slowly back off, there is usually a place where the sound blooms. That is the right place.

Re: 59/custom height in Fat Strat

I feel like you'll have to set the neck/middle closer to the strings than a typical strat to try to match the volume. Either that or set the Hybrid pretty low. I don't own an HSS though, so that may be a bad assumption on my part. Come back and tell us what works for you, as this is the pickup I'd go with if I ever get around to building an HSS strat.
