59/Custom Hybrid vs SH-5 Custom in a 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom

Hey, has anyone compared the two in a 70`s Les Paul Custom ?
Which model has more bite/attack, and cuts through the most ?
Btw I play classic hard rock and metal. I`m looking for a tighter and less boomier sound in my LPC.
Thanks in advance!

The Custom is the tighter brighter and louder one. The 59/custom hybrid has more warmth to it, still bright and responsive though. For you it seems Custom would be better.

70's LP customs will vary, just as new ones will. Not the least because the neck wood changed in 75.
And less boomy than what?? What is your reference point.

I look at it this way....its easy to crank the amp more, but if you have a thicker more compressed pickup you can't go the other way.

get a custom cause it sounds like what you would want out of the two. Also buy an alnico 8 mag and A/b the A8 and the ceramic in that pickup and Id be hard pressed that you cant find your perfect sound out of those two variations
