Re: 59 for METAL

With a high gain head, you don't need a high output pickup.

FWIW - I'm pretty sure Daron Malikan (System of a Down) used a Pearly Gates to record Toxicity.

Re: 59 for METAL

Mid gain and some low gain pups tend to do well for metal.. smoother, cleaner sounding imho.

With the right amp, the 59 can do anything.

And the right player.

It's agreat pickup.

Sound sjust like the pickups in Clapton's SG, 335 and '60 Les Paul that he recorded alot of Cream stuff with.

Far as I'm concerned, Cream started the music that would eventually become Metal...although Cream wasn't a metal band. They were...what's the right word? "GOOD"! :D

Re: 59 for METAL

The only time I used the 59' was in the neck, through a VHT with lots of gain. It had this really cool shredder, almost Rusty Cooley like tone. Its definitly capable of sonic mayhem.

Re: 59 for METAL

If a 59 is 2 low gain or u find it doesnt have enough bass maybe try a C-5 they r tighter then 59's from wat i have heard.
