59 nc

I found an old pickup in a misc parts box I ran across today. It's an SD white colored single coil sized mini humbucker for a Strat I believe. I bought the pup in 1995. It's the size of a Fender single coil and has two rows of mini magenet screws with a four lead shrouded wire (black, white, green, and a bit thicker dark gray colored wire) and a small sticker on the bottom that says "59 NC".

Can anybody tell me what this is? If I remember right it was a bridge pickup.....though not sure for certain.
I'd like to try it again (even if I can't remember the tone it imparts) along with some good regular single coil "blues" type pickups (Seymour, Lindy, etc.) in my Strat's middle and neck positions.
As to this pickup's original setup, I have a vague recollection of it being able to be split to single phase by push/pulling up on it's tone knob. It was on my #3 backup player Strat and didn't see a lot of usage hence my poor recollection about it. I'd ask my old tech about it but he's off shooting the sh*t with Jimi somewhere.

Anybody have a good idea or ideas relating to this pickup?
This pickup's tone in general terms?
What position it's normally put in (bridge, middle, neck)?

Thanks for any trouble gone to in answering this for me. I couldn't quite find out what I needed through searching.

Re: 59 nc

If you have a multi meter around check the DC resistance. If it's in the mid 11k range, it's a Lil 59, over 16k, it's a JB Jr.

hi, i've got 2 of those. they say the same thing on the bottom, and they are still in the original boxes. they are lil' 59's for the neck and middle. i'm thinkin the N stands for neck, and the c is who wound it. i've got a JB Jr bridge PU too, and it says 1B on the bottom of that.
