Tech from the store wrote me saying that the pickup ohmed correctly (~ 7.6k)

I am still convinced something is wrong with it.. It sounded no way like a humbucker and was very noisy..

What gives?

Sounds to me like possibly one coil is connected internally backwards. That would cause the sound to be weak and tinny, it wouldn't be humcancelling and it would ohm out normal. The tech should have installed it and listened to it. Or at least, check it with a 'scope and screwdriver.
