Live and learn. Got a zebra 59 for my tele. Sounds great but the long legs made me have to route two holes in the body so it would sit low enough. All my other duncans never had this issue. Wft?

Get one with short legs or switch the base with another one.

Re: 59 neck hb lovely sound but long legs routing headache

Base cannot be switched and all 59s that I have seen have tall legs

They make short legged/4 conductor '59 as a custom shop model. I've owned several of them. eBay bro.

Thanks for info. I made two small routes for the legs that did the trick. It was easier, for me, to do that than mess with desoldering the pickup and mounting on a new set of legs.

I know you are all set but for the record, the baseplate can be switched, the major work being to solder the shield of the wire.

You can also get a short legged (or 4-conductor) version as a "floor shop custom" which costs nothing extra over the normal one.

I started the project not knowing that fact. So i already had soldered the pickup. Therefore, I could not return it.
